Our Impact

Over 25 years, Ashoka has helped change the lives of millions all around the world through its Fellows, programs, and staff. And while the numbers of those helped are extraordinary, we are most proud of the impact our Fellows have had in terms of systemic change—shifting societal perceptions, encouraging new behavior patterns, and revolutionizing entire fields.

 

Chetna Gala Sinha has set up a micro-enterprise develpment bank, providing insurance for poor women, in one of the poorest and most drought-stricken areas of rural India. She has succeeded in changing government policy and law regarding property rights for women.

 

 

 

Ravi Agarwa has founded Toxics Link, an environmental information exchange aimed at providing credible information to grassroots communities in India. He has lead the formation of policies and has done pioneering work in management of medical and municipal waste in India.

 

 

Arvind Kejriwal is working for greater transparency in Government. He was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Emergent Leadership Award in 2006 for activating India's Right to Information movement to empower the poorest citizens to fight corruption.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Ashok Rau strives to make a difference in the lives of PLHAS to ensure that their quality of life is not destroyed by either addiction or AIDS. His organisation, Freedom Foundation, is the largest in India providing care & support to people living with HIV/AIDS.
