Join a Team of Changemakers
 
Ashoka is much more than an organization focused on social entrepreneurship. It is a network of colleagues, business partners and Fellows, working together to find innovative and effective levers for social change. As a team member at Ashoka, you will be responsible for highly complex, long-term projects focused on social change. We don’t have formal job descriptions; we create roles for people based on their skills and experience and the current needs of the organization. Your regular day at Ashoka may involve a myriad of activities including developing strategies to engage universities in creating the next generation of social entrepreneurs or building the first global open source platform to solve the world’s most urgent social problems.

Selection Criteria

As we build our team, we apply very similar criteria and processes to the ones we use to build a fellowship of leading social entrepreneurs. Ashoka’s staff selection criteria are the foundation of our interviewing process. We look for:

…entrepreneurs/intrapreneurs who have started and led things their whole lives (from university debating clubs and community gardens to large companies or new initiatives) and

…systems thinkers who are broadly and passionately interested in the questions Ashoka addresses and the historical change it seeks; people who understand, imagine, and believe in Everyone a Changemaker™ world and

…comrades who put Ashoka’s goals ahead of personal ambition

…colleagues who have the highest ethical fiber and empathy, who are trustworthy

…changemakers who give themselves permission to do big things, who have high standards of excellence in all of their efforts

Selection Process

Candidates who advance beyond the application stage will have a first interview, screening chiefly for the candidate’s entrepreneurial background and interest in Ashoka’s work in the world. A further sequence of interviews seeks to understand the candidate’s life history as a foundation for her overall “fit” with the organizational mission and culture. Final selection panels include representation from at least one member of Ashoka’s Leadership Team.
